How POBOVi Works

POBOVi combines advanced optical sensing, heart rate variability analysis and motion tracking to transform raw physiological signals into meaningful health insights.

PPG Optical Sensor

POBOVi uses advanced PPG (Photoplethysmography) optical sensors to emit green and infrared light into the skin and measure subtle blood volume changes beneath the finger.

Every heartbeat changes blood flow in the capillaries. By analyzing these optical reflections, the ring continuously measures:

• Heart Rate
• Resting Heart Rate
• Blood Oxygen Trends
• Night-time Heart Rhythm Changes

These signals form the foundation for sleep, stress and recovery analysis.

HRV Analysis Engine

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the variation in time intervals between consecutive heartbeats.

HRV reflects the balance of the autonomic nervous system and is one of the strongest indicators of recovery and physiological stress.

Higher HRV usually indicates good recovery and resilience.

Lower HRV often appears during stress, illness, fatigue or insufficient sleep.

POBOVi continuously analyzes HRV trends throughout sleep and recovery periods to estimate your readiness level.

Motion Tracking

A high precision motion sensor continuously captures body movement and activity intensity.

Motion data helps identify:

• Sleep onset time
• Wake events
• Turning frequency
• Daily activity load
• Exercise intensity

Combining movement with physiological signals significantly improves algorithm accuracy.

How Sleep and Stress Are Calculated

😴 Sleep Score

Sleep is not determined by movement alone.

POBOVi combines:

• PPG heart rate signals
• HRV changes
• Motion patterns

During deep sleep, heart rate drops, HRV rises and movement decreases significantly.

REM sleep usually presents irregular HRV patterns and subtle body movement.

The AI engine combines all signals to identify:

Awake → Light Sleep → Deep Sleep → REM Sleep

🧠 Stress Score

Stress scores are primarily derived from:

• HRV trends
• Resting heart rate
• Heart rate fluctuations

When HRV decreases and heart rate rises, sympathetic nervous system activity increases and stress scores rise accordingly.

When HRV increases and resting heart rate decreases, the body enters a more relaxed recovery state.

❤️ Recovery Score

Recovery combines:

• Overnight HRV
• Resting Heart Rate
• Sleep Quality
• Activity Load

This allows POBOVi to estimate physical readiness and recovery status for the next day.

Users can better understand when to train harder and when additional recovery is needed.
